Aly completed a double bachelor degree in Health Science/Applied Science (Osteopathy) from RMIT University, Melbourne. Prior to studying at university, Aly spent the final three years of her secondary education living in Hamilton, so it felt natural to her to return to rural living on the completion of her degree. Aly now shares her time between living and working in her private practice in Hamilton and now joining the team at Rebalance Osteopathy in Warrnambool.
From a young age Aly embraced an active lifestyle, playing both netball and basketball. Like many young athletes, she suffered multiple injuries. For Aly, Osteopathy was an integral component of her management in overcoming these injuries. It was from these personal experiences that led her to pursue a career in Osteopathy.
The principle of Osteopathy that resonates most with Aly is that the body is capable of ‘self regulation, self healing, and health maintenance’. She envisions her role in a patient's health and recovery to be one in which she provides assistance to support the body's natural ability to self heal.
Aly is drawn to techniques such as counterstrain, muscle energy and myofascial release and is interested in a broad range of musculoskeletal complaints, both acute and chronic in nature.
Aly is keen to broaden her Osteopathic skill-set this year by completing training in dry needling and paediatric osteopathy.
Outside of work, Aly generally starts her day with a strong soy latte and a few pats with her wolfhound, Jinx. She can often be found courtside coaching the Hamilton under 13 netball team or enjoying a wine with
friends.
