Sophie beks - osteopath

B.App.Sc.(Comp. Med), M. (Osteo) Member OA

Sophie grew up in Hamilton with her parents and two older sisters.  Living across the road from the train track as a child meant Sophie once dreamt of being a train driver.  Fortunately for all her lucky patients, this changed when she went to high school and developed an interest in the workings of the human body.  She graduated from RMIT University in 2013. During her final year of university, Sophie was selected to partake in a 3 month internship at SportsMed Mumbai, India, through Salt Health Solutions.  Sophie joined us at Rebalance Osteopathy in 2017, and now spends Monday to Thursday in Port Fairy and the rest of the week in Kensington with her partner, Joel (she gets the best of both worlds!!)

When it comes to Osteopathy, Sophie is passionate about chronic pain, pregnancy and postnatal care.  She has completed extra training in both fields.

Sophie loves being a part of a mother's journey throughout pregnancy and the postnatal period. She gets great reward from helping a mother’s body adapt to the changes of their growing baby, and to make this special time in their lives as enjoyable as it should be. The postnatal period is equally as important, with Sophie’s treatment aiming to aid recovery from childbirth and create comfort and ease while navigating the new roles of motherhood, ensuring our mums stay happy and healthy.

Sophie’s preferred techniques include soft tissue work, joint articulation/mobilisation, high-velocity-low amplitude manipulation, muscle energy techniques, and she prioritises patient education and exercise prescription.

Outside of work, Sophie loves spending time with her family, including her numerous nieces and nephews, and enjoys relaxing with good wine and food.  She loves a good outdoor adventure, whether it be travelling, hiking, or exploring a new place. She’s traveled to Bali, Thailand, Vanuatu, New Caledonia, India, Egypt, and the UK.  In 2018, Sophie also achieved a lifelong dream when she and her partner Joel, got the chance to go on a fantastic European adventure.
