Emily is an osteopath originally from England, she spent many years living and
practising in New Zealand before moving to Australia in 2024.
Emily has always been fascinated by movement and how complex systems adapt and respond to change. Her first degree was an Integrated Masters in Chemistry, where she learnt to analyse and visualise structures in three dimensions—a way of thinking that still shapes how she approaches osteopathy today.
Her interest in the human body deepened during an intensive yoga teacher and therapy training in the tradition of T. Krishnamacharya. Through this study of the mind-body connection, Emily learnt to observe movement patterns in detail while teaching yoga postures. She found herself wanting to understand more about why people move the way they do and how movement influences health and wellbeing.
That curiosity eventually led Emily to study at the European School of Osteopathy in the UK. She was drawn to the breadth of approaches it taught, and still draws on that broad perspective in practice today. The techniques Emily uses often appear quite gentle, but they are guided by a detailed understanding of how the body functions and adapts.
Emily also has a background in dance, which gave her an appreciation for the dedication involved in refining movement and achieving performance goals. It also taught her that movement and exercise can be enjoyable as well as beneficial.
After a decade of practising in New Zealand, Emily is excited to be starting a new chapter in Warrnambool and working alongside the team at Rebalance Osteopathy.
